10 Frugal Save Money Tips

These 10 frugal save money tips are simple, yet effective.

1) Do not spend any money for one day.

Try not to spend any money, other than bill paying, for 24 hours. Take your lunch to work instead of eating out. Do whatever you need to not spend money for one day. Plan a “no-spend” day every week, or at least twice a month. Over time this money will add up.

2) Bring your lunch to work as much as possible.

So many people eat out at lunch time. Instead of spending that money eating out, you can take your lunch to work and save so much money.

3) Coupons.

Use coupons whenever you can. Use them for eating out, clothes, groceries, etc. Also ask for the cash back from the coupons. There are a lot of coupons you can get online now for free too. One site to get them from is Coupons.com.

4) If you eat out, try to spend as less as possible.

If you eat out, try to spend $5 or less. There are a lot of places to eat now that have cheap items on their menus. A lot of the drive threw places also have dollar menus.

5) No dry cleaner.

You will save a lot of money if you clean your own garments instead of taking them to the dry cleaners.

6) Buy things in bulk.

Try to buy your every day items in bulk such as toilet paper and paper towels, things of that nature. Costco and Sam’s Club are the top stores to buy bulk.

7) Buy generic.

Believe it or not, most generic items are just as good as the name brand kind. I recommend buying generic because generic items are about half the price as name brand items.

8) Cancel extras you do not need.

What I mean by that is magazines, cell phones, books and things of that nature that you do not need. Fewer bills will equal more money.

9) Use cash and not credit cards

Everyone knows that if you use a credit card, more than likely there will be interest. If you use cash when you shop then you don’t have to worry about interest. I know sometimes you might have to use your credit card, but try to use cash if you can.

10) Put extra money in saving account.

All the money you would spend a day on eating out for lunch and grocery shopping; put in a savings account and leave it there. Over time that money will increase more and more and you will have a lot of money saved for a rainy day.

Extra Ways to Save Money for Baby

Looking for extra ways to save money for baby?

For entertainment of your new little one, it’s important to keep it simple in order to save money and sanity. The public library has story times; walks around the lake where there are ducks to feed are fun, and museums often have free days or reduced cost days for families with children. Get creative and see what is available in your community. Getting together with another mom, dad, or two at a park is another fun option. New DVD’s and Spanish lessons for your baby are great if you have the money, but if you don’t, find other ways to stimulate his or her little brain.

Ebay and Craigslist are two other ways to get good deals on things for your new baby. People sometimes give away baby and kid items on Craigslist. Ebay is a good place to buy lots of diapers and get good deals on coupons people aren’t going to use.

Also, check out Freecycle, which is a nation-wide, grassroots Internet network of individuals in communities who give away and take no-longer-wanted items and keep them out of landfills. People go through their closets, realize they have way too many newborn onesies than their 7 year-old realistically will use in the coming year, and they post that they would really like to give them away as soon as possible to someone who needs them. Then the person that needs them responds when they can come pick them up. If you are in need of something, you can also post that you could definitely use a particular item. This can spark someone’s memory that they have what you need hiding in a basement corner. It’s all done locally, and it’s a great way to even get things like toys, nursery furniture, baby books, blankets, etc. for free. Finding clothes for your kids through Freecycle is even better than spending hours at resale and thrift stores or garage sales and spending money on them.

Just keep it simple. Network as much as possible with people who have baby items that they will give away or sell cheaply. Your baby needs you and not a $200 crib bedding set that you probably won’t want to use as it may increase the risk of SIDS. Wait to purchase items that your baby can do without for a couple of months in order to spend some time thinking about what he or she will really need to be happy and comfortable.
